Lone Star Explosion Gala "X Offenders, Celebrating the Roots of Performance Art in Houston"

Lone Star Explosion hosts its first gala, "X Offenders, Celebrating the Roots of Performance Art in Houston," a fundraiser for Lone Star Explosion 2014, the group's second international performance art biennial.

"X Offenders" will feature live performance work by acclaimed artists such as Jim Pirtle, Deborah Moore and Nestor Topchy, and includes the recreation of The Art Guys' Slap Happy (or Facing the Music), a percussion piece written in 1988. Other historical pieces paying homage to Houston's performance roots will be facilitated by Continuum. VHS and audio installations will allow guests to look back in time to historical works previously presented CSAW, ZocolO, TemplO, Notsuoh, the original Lawndale Art Annex, The Rubber Art Mob, DiverseWorks and The Orange Show.

The gala will feature a silent art auction that includes pieces by cuiZine from Mukyouyouna, The Art Guys, Daniel Anguilu, Patrick Renner, Lisa Qualls, Patrick Medrano, David McClain, Claire Richards, Dandee Warhol, Taft McWorhter, Kelly Alison, Lindsay Peyton, Emily Sloan, Susan Plum, Kelley Devine, Angel Quesada, Julia Wallace, Charlie Jean Sartwelle, Devon Britt-Darby, Jonatan Lopez, Kelly Moran, Josh Urban Davis, Koomah, Janine Hughes, Renee Cossete Pedersen, Yousef Balat, Daniel Elliot, Y.E. Torres, Daniel Bertalot, Traci Matlock, Jajah Gray, Michelle Chen Dubos, Nyssa Juneau, Stephanie Saint Sanchez and Jack Silverman.

The evening will end with dancing to The Easy Credit Dance Theater.
