In collaboration with Lydia Hance and Frame Dance Productions, Liminal Space Contemporary Ensemble presents a program that features the Houston premiere of Steve Reich's 2X5, with original dance and choreography. Comprised of electric guitars and bass, piano and drums, this monumental work combines both a live and pre-recorded rock quintet to create a driving yet meditative tapestry of sound that has become a signature of Reich's highly influential brand of American minimalism.
The program will also include Orianna Webb's Sustenance Variations, a thrilling work that explores the idea of musical sustain as a collaborative venture. The ensemble will also present Eric Martin's You Didn't Build That! and the world premiere of Robert McClure's Memory Variations, both of which stem from Liminal Space's New Music Initiative.
