"Light of the Sufis" at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

Engage in more than 50 objects of Islamic mysticism at the new MFAH exhibition, "Light of the Sufis." Primarily the realm of Syria and Iran, Sufism seeks union with God via a path of enlightenment involving prayer and meditation. Organized by the Brooklyn Museum, this exhibition is unique in its display of prestigious loans from The Metropolitan Museum of Art and Smithsonian Institution. On view through August 8 at the Caroline Wiess Law Bulding, the show represents the latest effort by the museum to bring the Arts of the Islamic World to Houston.

To celebrate the opening, Whirling Dervish performances will take place at 2 p.m.and 3:30 p.m. On Sunday, May 16.
