Kirsten Ostherr is a scholar whose wide-ranging research explores how various media — from x-rays to 16mm film to television and the Internet — have trained both physicians and patients to see and understand health and disease. She will speak on the relationship between LaToya Ruby Frazier's work and historical and contemporary imagery of the medical patient. She will also discuss how the Yates High School project that Frazier has taken part in activates current debates about giving youth tools to expand their critical engagement with the world.
