Whether harnessing the light at sunset or transforming the glow of a television set into a fluctuating portal, James Turrell's art places viewers in a realm of pure experience. Highlighting the artist's ongoing exploration of "seeing," this lecture provides a review of his career with special focus on the summer exhibition James Turrell: The Light Inside and Turrell's permanent fixtures in Houston: The Light Inside at the MFAH, Twilight Epiphany at Rice University and One Accord at the Live Oak Friends Meeting House.

The lecture is presented by Alison de Lima Greene, MFAH curator, Contemporary Art & Special Projects. A reception follows the program.
