As Houston claims its title as the most diverse city in the United States, there is a unique opportunity to understand better the depth and breadth of that diversity, what it portends for the city and how it reflects contemporary America. In response, Asia Society Texas Center and The Boniuk Center for Religious Tolerance at Rice University present an evening of intrafaith dialogue featuring four imams representing the Ahmadiyya, African-American, Shia and Sunni traditions of Islam.
Together, they will explore topics such as how cultural and generational nuances manifest themselves in various communities; the role of grace, fellowship and forgiveness in their traditions; and what they most want those outside Islam to know about their faith.
