the Orient Department, German Archaeological Institute
Deep in the heartland of Arabia, remarkable urban centers developed and flourished at the same time as ancient Egypt and Babylonia. Though Arabia was long considered a marginal backwater to the grand centers of ancient Near Eastern civilizations, recent discoveries have revealed hidden cultures and treasures. This lecture by professor Ricardo Eichmann is part of the Archaeological Institute of America Houston Society's 2012–2013 series "It's About Time," presented by the MFAH, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Hellenic Cultural Center and the Health Museum.
A reception to meet the speaker follows the program.
