Associate professor of Art History at Drexel University Pia Brancaccio shows how the art of Gandhara, an ancient kingdom located in what is today northern Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan, blended the idealized beauty of the human form expressed in Greek sculpture with the artistic traditions of South Asia, Iran and Central Asia to create a global style that significantly contributed to the worldwide spread of Buddhism.
