Le Sagre Series: "I Formaggi Freschi"

eventdetail

The Italian Cultural & Community Center of Houston launches a new series of events titled "Le Sagre." The sagra is an Italian festival, organized in many different Italian towns or regions and is always connected to a local tradition or food celebrated in the course of the event. Born from a religious factor, today the Sagre are still very popular Italian traditions, but they have acquired a new meaning and function. The real protagonists of the Sagra certainly are food and wine productions.

Brazos Valley Cheese will be the special guest of this fine tasting event and the audience will be guided to the discovery of local cheese productions under the lead of executive chef Maurizio Ferrarese of Quattro Restaurant - Four Seasons Hotel. A live demonstration of mozzarella cheese making will take place during the evening and unique pairings with gastronomic foods and wines have been conceived by Marc Kuehl of Brazos Valley Cheese.

The cheese board menu will feature the following cheeses: Van Sormon, Horseradish Pecan Cheddar, Eden, Smoked Gouda, Fresh Mozzarella and Orchard Blue. Guests will also enjoy gristmill, pottery and wood stations plus the opportunity to learn about curiosities and fun facts about fresh cheese.
