Lawndale Art Center will present Speakeasy, a new program initiative that launched in Spring 2016. This event will feature a rare performance by Jandek.

Jandek is the musical project of Corwood Industries, a record label that operates out of Houston. Jandek often plays a highly idiosyncratic and frequently atonal form of folk, rock, classical, and blues music, at times using an open and unconventional chord structure.

Speakeasy is a new program initiative that re-envisions Lawndale's "Speakeasy" series that took place from 1992-2002. This series casts a reflexive eye on Lawndale's historical relationship to live music and performance, as well as the exploration of issues in contemporary art.
