Katy Prairie Conservancy's 2014 Bash, themed "Duck Duck Goose," recognizes the importance of birds to the Katy Prairie as it honors three couples who have been instrumental in making the prairie more accessible to birders and other visitors. Janie and Gareth Cook, Neva and John Dawson and Christy and John Murchison have contributed time, fundraising efforts and personal donations for the implementation of the Matt Cook Wildlife Viewing Platform at Warren Ranch on the Katy Prairie. The Matt Cook Wildlife Viewing Platform is a two-story structure that overlooks KPC's 140-acre Warren Lake, which is teeming with wildlife year-round, including hundreds of bird species.
The ADA-accessible platform is dedicated to the memory of a young wildlife and fisheries graduate student who spent many hours studying and enjoying the wildlife of the Katy Prairie.
"Duck Duck Goose" will be held at the Tanglewood-area home of Amy and Hardy Murchison. Party guests will dance to the beat of Miss Leslie and Her Juke Jointers and enjoy bites from A Fare Extraordinaire. The gala honorees will be recognized in a brief presentation.
