"Dance, Film and Conversation" is an evening of live performance and new dance for film projects by Karen Stokes Dance that includes discussion between the audience and artists. The audience is invited to engage with the artistic director and company members about the show, upcoming projects and the company itself.

KSD will preview two sections from Stokes' upcoming project Deep: Seaspace. Deep: Seaspace, which investigates the history and future of Houston through the lens of its two most well-known enterprises: Shipping and the offshore oil industry and space exploration. KSD will present two sections (one live, one film) inspired by the Port of Houston Authority, in honor of the centennial celebration of the port.

KSD will also present the duet Black & White (working title), a new collaborative initiative with French composer Tiziana De Carolis, who has created seven compositions under the title Dualities. Stokes will expand the duet using another Dualities piece for "Dance, Film and Conversation."

KSD will premiere Gallery Construction 5, the most recent of the Gallery Construction films that revolve around art installations in Houston. Gallery Construction 5, featuring dancer Jessica Cortez, is housed in the shimmering light of Soo Sunny Park's installation Unwoven Light, which was on view at the Rice Gallery in summer 2013.
