As a Harvard-trained psychiatrist and practicing Buddhist, Dr. Mark Epstein is known for integrating Western and Eastern psychology. In his latest book, The Trauma of Everyday Life, he writes that trauma is an integral part of life that can be used as a lever for growth. With this perspective, Dr. Epstein explores how suffering connects us to the world and each other.

The annual Spring Benefit honors the George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation for their longstanding partnership with The Jung Center. For the past 60 years, the Hamman Foundation has given millions in grants and scholarships to the Houston community. The Jung Center has been the grateful recipient of their friendship and support for more than 20 years. Through the Hamman Professional Wellness Workshops, The Jung Center provides “caring for the caregivers,” inviting mental health professionals to focus on their own well-being as well as to learn tools to more effectively help thousands of people navigate the big and small “traumas of everyday life.”
