Shahla Rosa, a Canadian-American Contemporary Surrealist, feels like a "spectator at the birth of the surrealist movement" each time she begins a new painting. Rosa's compositions are inspired by Andre Breton, Sigmund Freud and Dante Alighieri, and deal with themes of human nature and the subconscious.
Rosa paints her deepest thoughts in an attempt to shed life on her inner self. It is through the exploration of the unconscious and the projecting of the dream state into reality, that Rosa reaches new levels of creative imagination.
