Jung Center art opening reception: Capturing the Human Soul and the Soul of Nature: Christina Karll and Hilda Rueda

eventdetail
Courtesy of the artist

Houston-area artists Christina Karll and Hilda Rueda share The Jung Center Gallery to explore the soul — both in nature and humanity.

Journey Through the Trees and Beyond brings together paintings, sculptures and site-specific installations that illuminate Christina Karll's explorations of themes that have appeared and reappeared within her art-making over the last two decades. The message is environmental and personal, metaphorical and metaphysical.

Rueda paints with color and texture the fleeting emotions of the lonely human being involved in simple daily activities. In her exhibit Sole Souls, she intends to show the souls of her subjects and how indispensable they are as pieces of the marvelous tapestry that constitutes the human race.

On view through Oct. 29
