“Traversing Tibet” is an exhibit of 14 brilliantly colored oil paintings depicting traditional Tibetan life and customs by Houstonian Jo Sherwood. Sherwood visits remote areas of the world to capture glimpses of traditional societies that may not exist much longer.
The exhibit’s featured event is the Tibetan Horse Festival, celebrated amidst open grasslands and wildflowers, in sight of snowcapped mountains, shows Tibetans dressed in their finest holiday attire. Sherwood also includes scenes from a wedding procession in which the bridal couple and guests wore elaborate silk robes and jewelry.
Following the opening reception, the exhibit will be on display until December 5.
