Commercial photographers captured many great views of early Texas oil booms. Common scenes included oil gushers, oilfield fires, fields of wooden derricks and boomtowns. These photographs were produced and sold, often as real photo postcards.
Jeff Spencer will share many photographs that document the rapid growth of the Texas petroleum industry from Corsicana in the 1890s through the next several decades of the booming oil industry around the state.
