Jerry & Marvy Finger Lecture Series: Texas Courthouses by Pat and Don Townzen

eventdetail
Heritage Society

Longtime Houstonians Pat and Don Townzen were looking for an interesting project to occupy themselves after retirement. Don's hobby of photography led them to set out on a journey to photograph some of the beautiful historic Texas county courthouses, many of which were constructed during building booms at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.  A great number of these grand old buildings have been restored through special grants from the Texas Historical Commission. That journey around Texas ended up spanning over three years, during which they eventually photographed all 254 courthouses.

The couple not only completed their photography project, but also met some interesting people and learned a lot of Texas history along the way. Join as the Towzens share their photos and stories.

Guests may bring a lunch or purchase one for $10.
