Jerry & Marvy Finger Lecture Series: "The Old 300: Gone to Texas" by Paul Spellman

Learn about the saga of the American westward migration to Texas between 1817 and 1825, the story of 300 families who made their way from all across the United States and four countries to settle in Austin's Colony in Mexican Texas. Paul Spellman will discuss why they came, where they came from, how they got here and a little bit about the evolution of the book itself.

The author has been a professor of Texas and U.S. history at Wharton County Junior College for 17 years. He has authored seven books on Texas History, was inducted into the Western Writers of America in 2009, and is working on several more projects. The Old 300 is under consideration for the Will Rogers Medallion Award.
