At the turn of the 20th century, women in Houston realized that their city lacked many attributes needed for enhancing the lives of its residents. Their untiring efforts in the fields of art, music, education and social service bequeathed a rich legacy to 21st century Houstonians. The lecture, titled "Houston Women: Agitated, Educated and Organized to Create a More Enlightened Community," will be presented by Betty Chapman.
