The JDRF Greater Houston Chapter invites the Houston community to unite for their annual One Walk event in the battle against Type 1 Diabetes. One Walk is a yearly event that aims to raise awareness and funds to advance research, enable advocacy and provide financial support for the 1.45 million Americans living with Type 1 Diabetes.
The event will start with a parade to celebrate loved ones living with Type 1 Diabetes. Following the parade, the opening ceremony will kick off the 2.1 mile walk around the Houston Sports Park, led by One Walk Chairs Mary Shepherd and Caris Lauritsen with Grand Marshal, Reagan Goodman.
As participating walkers make their way throughout the park, JDRF will honor members of the TD1 community with a “mile of hope”. This will feature a mile-long path adorned with signs bearing words of encouragement from the families and friends of those living with Type 1 Diabetes. Participants can be a part of this special tribute by presenting a donation of $500 per sign. Following the walk, an award ceremony will take place where teams with highest donation will receive a traveling disco ball trophy to hold until next year’s event.
