Houston-based Super Bowl Champion James Ihedigbo will host his annual Celebrity Bowling Event to raise funds for his charity, Hope Africa, USA. Each lane will be paired with one of Ihedigbo’s NFL friends. Teams compete for first, second, and third place prizes.
James launched his foundation in 2007 and carried these community efforts in Baltimore and Detroit, helping raise money for scholarships for African students heading to college. The money raised at this event will go to educational scholarships for students in Houston to help them further their education beyond high school.
The Hope Africa Charity was founded in 2007 when Ihedigbo was drafted to the NFL. James wanted to use his new platform to further the dream of his father, which was a dream and goal of a higher education for not only his family, but others. Ihedigbo’s parents also created an opportunity for people in their home country by creating a vocational school in 2001 that continues to help and provide education to those in Nigeria today.
