Central Asia Institute
Nobel Peace Prize nominee and The New York Times best-selling author Greg Mortenson will be on hand at a luncheon Feb. 8 to discuss his experiences and efforts to promote education in remote Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Author of Three Cups of Tea and Stones into Schools, Mortenson is also the founder of Pennies for Peace and the Central Asia Institute, which will benefit from the luncheon's proceeds. The organizations work to build schools in remote areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan threatened by terrorism and extreme poverty.
