The Italian Cultural & Community Center will host students from the University of Houston’s Moores Opera Center for Serata d’Opera Italiana, an evening of Italian Opera. The evening will feature a special performance of I Due Timidi (The Shy Lovers), written by Italian composer Nino Rota, in a semi-staged format with piano accompaniment. The opera will be sung in its original Italian, with English translations projected behind the performers.
I Due Timidi follows the lives of two hopelessly shy lovers, Mariuccia and Raimondo, as they try to connect despite the interference of their neighbors and families. The production will be directed by Buck Ross, the director and founder of the Moores Opera Center, where he has staged over 50 productions.
