In celebration of the 700th anniversary of the passing of Dante Alighieri, this course reads closely Dante’s Inferno. Over the course of 4 weeks, Italian Cultural & Community Center will read the entire Inferno in translation, focusing on Dante’s encounters with significant figures he meets on his journey through hell.
During the last 700 years Inferno has inspired the work of many composers, poets, visual artists, and writers. Among those considered in this course are Peter I. Tchaikovsky, Franz Liszt, T. S. Eliot, Eugène Delacroix, Salvador Dalí and Flannery O’ Connor.
