Born in the United States to Chinese immigrant parents, Amy Tan burst onto the literary scene in 1989 with her debut novel The Joy Luck Club. Her other works include The Kitchen God’s Wife, The Hundred Secret Senses, and two children’s books, The Moon Lady and The Chinese Siamese Cat.
