Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival: Carlos Spierer conducts The Ring Without Words

eventdetail

The Immanuel and Helen Olshan Texas Music Festival showcases classical music's rising stars in more than 30 performances. Based at the University of Houston's Moores School of Music, the one-month international music residency program continues with maestro Carlos Spierer and legendary violinist Leon Spierer as concertmaster.

The program includes Lorin Maazel's arrangement of Wagner's epic operatic marathon. The Ring Without Words, which condenses the main themes of the Ring Cycle down to 45 minutes or so, will be complemented by a selection that spotlights the winner of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Young Artist Competition as soloist.
