"Idol of the Heights" kicks off preliminary rounds at The Lot on Washington to find the next Heights Idol. The competition consists of three prelims (June 18, June 25 and July 9) limited to 30 contestants each. The top 10 from each prelim move to the semi-finals in July and the top 10 from the semi-finals compete in the finals, July 27, during the Greater Heights Chamber Business Expo. First, second and third place receive $300, $200 and $100, respectively.

Contestants must be 18 and prepare one song with recorded accompaniment per round of competition. The entry fee is $10 and applications are on the Great Heights Area Chamber of Commerce website.
