HSPVA Friends, the nonprofit organization that supports the needs of HISD's nationally acclaimed High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, hosts its Eighth Annual Encore for Excellence Luncheon, which will feature student performances as well as remarks by HSPVA's 2014 Distinguished Alumna Mireille Enos.
Enos has been nominated for an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Tony Award. She is best known for her lead roles in AMC's The Killing and the motion pictures World War Z, in which she played opposite Brad Pitt and Gangster Squad with the ensemble Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Sean Penn.
The Encore for Excellence Luncheon enhances opportunities for HSPVA's student artists by providing funding for creative writing, dance, instrumental music, theater, visual arts and vocal music programs, granting college and summer program scholarships and collaborating with renowned arts organizations.
