Houston Symphony presents Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody

Young Tchaikovsky Piano Competition winner Daniil Trifonov recreates the fiery flourishes, intriguing romance and devilish finale of Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody. The excitement will continue when conductor James Gaffigan leads the orchestra in the symphony that earned Shostakovich a 40-minute ovation at its premiere. The final relentless crescendo of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 will have you on your feet, with its pounding timpani and majestic final chords.

Note: Friday's performance is an ACCESS concert, which contains a shortened program.
