At this concert, the audience will xperience a suite from Rimsky-Korsakov’s penultimate stage work, The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh, a powerful symbol of cultural resilience in the face of oppression. Lost for several decades after it was written, Florence Price’s tone poem Ethiopia’s Shadow in America traces the historical experiences of enslaved Africans in America. The evening culminates with Tchaikovsky’s fiery Fourth Symphony, one of the most beloved symphonies of all time.
