Houston Symphony presents Richard Strauss' Don Quixote

eventdetail

A complete concert program dedicated to the music of Richard Strauss is demanding  — an athletic feat — for all orchestral musicians. A piece often found in auditions, Don Juan tells the story of love, lust, emotional and physical conquest ending in eternal damnation through a virtuosic and brilliant score. Listen for the deliciously seductive oboe solo as you get whisked away to a world of earthly indulgence.  Canadian Soprano Erin Wall interprets Four Last Songs with sensitive intensity while Don Quixote of La Mancha explores the delusional stories of the knight featuring principal violist Wayne Brooks and cellist Brinton Averill Smith.
