Houston Symphony presents Dvorak's Cello Concerto

eventdetail

Romanticism at its peak, this Houston Symphony closing classical series concert features two major staples of the orchestral repertoire. Dvorak's Cello Concerto is a large scale work with beautiful singing melodies with utmost sublime lyricism contrasted by virtuosic passages. The orchestra does not solely serve as accompaniment as solo winds can be heard sprinkled through the score, specifically horn, flute, oboe and clarinet. Charismatic cellist,  Alisa Weilerstein, returns to Houston to add her passionate and fiery interpretation to this brilliant piece.

The lush, rich and lavish Symphony No. 2 by Rachmaninoff ends the season.
