Houston Symphony presents Bartók's The Miraculous Mandarin

eventdetail
Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau

Béla Bartók's Miraculous Mandarin was originally a ballet but created such a scandal, it was banned. It has since been performed as a concert suite preserving approximately two-thirds of the original score but maintaining the ballet's musical protrayal of greed, lust, crime and love.

The Symphony will also perform Chausson's Poème for Violin and Orchestra, Ravel's Tzigane for Violin and Orchestra and Brahms Symphony No. 3. Augustin Hadelich will be featured on violin.
