Houston reVision presents a virtual event as part of The CEO Lecture Series titled Community-Based Alternatives: "The Future of Youth Justice." Despite the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on juvenile-justice system involved youth and their families, incredible progress has been made towards moving the needle on much-needed reform in Harris County.
The event will feature reVision CEO, Charles Rotramel and Harris County Juvenile Probation Department Executive Director, Henry Gonzales virtually, for an update on the vision for the future of juvenile justice in Harris County and the plan to make that vision a reality.
Rotramel and Gonzales will also provide an overview of the exciting new reforms being implemented across Harris County, including the County’s work to keep more kids out of detention facilities and close to home where they can receive the support they need to succeed through mentoring-based organizations, including reVision Houston. They will share fascinating statistics, including 64 percent fewer admissions to juvenile detention in Harris County and 53 percent fewer placements in state- or county-run institutions over 2019-20.
