Houston Public Media and Rice University Kinder Institute for Urban Research present "The Changing Faces of Houston"

"The Changing Faces of Houston" is an evening of community celebration that features Stephen Klineberg presenting results from the 2013 Houston Area Survey. Houston Public Media's Ernie Manouse and KPRC Local 2's Khambrel Marshall will emcee the evening's program of testimonials from Houstonians on Houston beginning with Mayor Annise Parker.

Other featured speakers include: KIPP Foundation co-founder and KIPP Houston superintendent Mike Feinberg; former president of the United Way Gulf Coast and current diversity consultant Jacqueline Martin; James Beard Award finalist and executive chef Hugo Ortega; and co-chairman of FosterQuan LLP and former Houston City Council member Gordon Quan.

In addition, there will be live performances from The Tontons, Endurance-Gospel, Mariachi Hermosura, Anjali School of Dance and Kipp Generations Choir. Local artist Rebecca Bass will lead a hands-on workshop for park goers to create individualized flags that will be strung around the park throughout the evening.

Through social media, attendees can tweet questions to Klineberg and share their experience on Instagram using #DGCelebratingOurCity and #DiscoveryGreen.

Activities begin at 6:30 p.m.; program starts at 7:30 p.m.
