In a bright, topsy-turvy landscape of fluctuating figures, artist and animator Signe Baumane recounts the lives of five women in her Latvian family and their struggles with depression. A combination of hand-drawn animation, papier-mâché settings and stop motion figures bring these individual stories of mental illness to life.
The result is a continually morphing parade of surreal images that light up this darkly funny and moving saga of family history and genetics.
