The heart-wrenching yet inspiring Baring It All puts a human face on the heroism of breast-cancer survivors who are in their 20s and 30s. This Emmy Award-winning documentary follows New York-based fashion photographer David Jay and four brave women who become subjects of his groundbreaking photographic series, "The SCAR Project."
By photographing each woman in various states of treatment and recovery, he creates nude portraits that reveal more than scars and baldness — these women are also beautiful, challenging and powerful. Jay's photographs are on view in Houston at Gremillion Gallery from Oct. 17-28.
The film will be introduced by Anne Wilkes Tucker, the Gus and Lyndall Wortham Curator of Photography. Jay will join some of the women featured in the film for a panel discussion prior to the screening.
