The Houston LibroFEST celebration will feature several local and nationally recognized award-winning authors, spotlight books, history and culture, art, activities, and performances for the entire family.
Featured Houston LibroFEST authors include:
- Julissa Arce: Writer, speaker, and author of My (Underground) American Dream. She will discuss her personal and inspirational story of how she achieved the American Dream while being an undocumented immigrant.
- Javier O. Huerta: Author of American Copia: An Immigrant Epic, Huerta will share his experience as an immigrant in America and his journey toward becoming a naturalized citizen.
- Rene Colato Lainez: Enjoy a fun story time with children’s author Lainez while he takes you and your children on a ride with his delightful, original, clever and purposeful multicultural tales. He’ll be reading his new story "Mamá the Alien/ Mamá la extraterreste."
- Gracie Saenz and Diana Dávila Martinez: Middle and high school students are invited to hear Saenz and Martinez share their experiences as trailblazing Latina leaders and about the importance of voting. Saenz is an Attorney at Law with Saenz & Burkhardt PLLC, former Houston City Council member, and Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Houston, and graduate of Jeff Davis High School in Houston’s Northside community. Martinez is a published author of children’s books like A School Named for Someone Like Me/Una Escuela Con Un Nombre Como El Mio.
