Performed against the backdrop of Mark Rothko's majestic canvases, this concert explores themes of home, family and the difficulties faced when divided by borders. The program includes music from the world's first mariachi opera, Cruzar la Cara de la Luna/To Cross the Face of the Moon, along with classical Spanish and traditional mariachi songs.
Featured performers include vocalists Cecilia Duarte and Vanessa Cerda-Alonzo, guitarist José Pecina and pianists Ana María Otamendi and John Cornelius.
Both programs will be followed by a reception catered by Cuchara, Houston's Mexico City Bistro.
