Houston Grand Opera presents La traviata

In Verdi’s most romantic opera, the dazzling heroine, Violetta Valéry, a high-class Parisian courtesan, gives up her life as she knows it for the first man she’s ever loved, only to lose it all.

Arin Arbus returns to HGO to direct this opera filled with lavish sets and grand costumes, while Verdi’s famous score beautifully paints a glittering Paris; this fierce combination is sure to provide an experience of truly gripping theater.

This opera will now take place at the George R. Brown Convention Center in downtown Houston, due to the closing of the Wortham Theater Center for repairs. The opera will be presented in Exhibit Hall A3 of the convention center, to be called the HGO Resilience Theater, an intimate theater for “unconventional opera.”
