The Houston Grand Opera will present Eugene Onegin. Tchaikovsky’s beloved work based on the Pushkin verse novel receives elegant period treatment in this acclaimed production that Canadian director Robert Carsen created for the Metropolitan Opera. Rooted in emotional turmoil and vivid characterizations, Carsen’s austere production is paired with spare sets and rich period costumes by Michael Levine. Carsen’s vision will be realized by revival director Paula Suozzi, who directed it at Lyric Opera of Chicago, and will be making her HGO debut.
