HGOco, Houston Grand Opera's community collaboration and education initiative, presents Bound, a chamber opera based on the real-life experiences of Diane Tran, a former student at Willis High School near Houston. Bound explores Tran's journey after she was fined and jailed in 2012 for excessive truancy as a result of working multiple jobs to support her Vietnamese immigrant family. The story sheds light on how immigrants can be caught amid confusing and conflicting responsibilities.
