The Houston Composers Salon, formerly the Houston Composers Alliance, reformed in 2012 by board members Paul Connolly, Chapman Welch, Hsin-Jung Tsai and Thomas Helton to promote a wide range of compositional styles and support the expansion of musical vocabulary.
Hosted by KUHF DJ Eric Ladau, the inaugural program includes pieces by each of the board members.
The concert is free, but those who donate $10 or more will receive a CD of four original compositions by Helton, Tsai, Connolly and Welch.
The program includes Persecution Complex by Thomas Helton, performed by bassist Andrew Seifert; Here, You Are by Paul Connolly; Sound of Loneliness for saxophone quartet, performed by Woody Witt, Graham Tobin, Jonathan Christie and Johnny Salina; and Ritual House by Chapman Welch, performed by Woody Witt.
