Chase Jordan was just 16 when jazz great Lionel Hampton invited the young vibraphonist to sit in for a gig with Hampton's legendary band. As Jordon came on stage, the master made an unprecedented move: He insisted that Jordan play Hampton's own instrument.

HCC Central's Jazz Improvisation Combo hosts Jordan as its guest for its annual concert, Just Jazz 2012. The Combo, under the direction of Horace Alexander Young, will also welcome guest artists from the TSU Jazz Ensemble for an evening that will include tributes to Hampton and to jazz genius Bennie Goodman.
