Houston Civic Symphony presents music of Dvorak & Strauss

Music director Brian Runnels will conduct Dvorak's Symphony no. 9 in E Minor "New World", one of the most well loved symphonies by concertgoers worldwide. Opening the concert will be his Carnival Overture, Dvorak's most highly regarded concert overture.

Steven Winter, former horn player in the Houston Civic Symphony and recent graduate of the New England Conservatory (NEC), will perform Strauss' Horn Concerto No. 1. While at NEC he studied with Boston Symphony Orchestra members Jason Snider and Norman Bolter. While a student at Houston Baptist University he studied with Kevin McIntyre of the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra.
