Houston Cinema Arts Society, in collaboration with The Catastrophic Theatre, will present a virtual screening of Leap and the Net Will Appear.
Margie was raised to be a good girl, but Margie has a secret: she wants to be a lion. Leap and the Net Will Appear traces one woman’s highly theatrical, time-hopping search for adventure, for love, and for her true self. Packed with wildly eccentric family members and unpredictable lovers, Margie’s journey is at turns uproariously funny and probingly melancholic. Her fierce insistence that she can discover her most fundamental nature takes her across the globe in a romantic and bewildering whirlwind.
The Catastrophic Theatre produced Leap and the Net Will Appear by Chana Porter in 2018 as part of the play's rolling world premiere in partnership with New Georges theatre in New York City. The production was directed by Porter’s collaborator, NYC director Tara Ahmadinejad, and featured original music by composer Andrew Lynch.
Viewers will have seven days after purchase to start watching the screening. Once viewing begins, they'll have 24 hours to finish watching the film. The livestream can be viewed anytime through September 3 at 9 pm.
This program is free to keep it as accessible as possible but donations are encouraged, with a majority of donations going directly to pay the artists.
