The 12th Annual Houston Cinema Arts Festival will take place virtually and at drive-ins across Houston. The festival will feature over 20 films, Q&A sessions, performances, and workshops.

This year’s theme, Urbana, plays off the globally popular Spanish-language music genre música urbana, and the festival will include tributes to Selena and DJ Screw on the 25th and 20th anniversaries of their untimely deaths. In addition, the festival will feature their annual CineSpace short film competition with NASA, the new Borders | No Borders regional short film competition, and a new imagining of the festival’s guiding programming conceit: “local meets global.”

Featured screenings will include opening night film Mogul Mowgli (taking place both virtually and at Moonstruck Drive-In), along with a 40th anniversary screening of Shogun Assassin at Showboat Drive-In and a showcase screening of the new film Ammonite starring Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan at Moonstruck Drive-In.

For a full schedule of screenings, go to the festival website.
