Mozart's Great Mass in C minor stands with the famous Requiem as two of the crowning achievements in Mozart's choral repertoire. Like Requiem, it remained unfinished at the time of his death. The Great Mass is a magisterial masterpiece inspired by love. Many speculate that Mozart wrote the mass in thanks to God following good events in his life, including his marriage to Constanze, the birth of their first child and Constanze's recovery from illness.
The concert features soloists Stacey Weber and Kelli Shircliffe, sopranos; Sonja Bruzauskas, mezzo-soprano; Daniel Mutlu, tenor; Paul Busselberg, baritone; and orchestra under the direction of Robert Simpson.
