Houston Chamber Choir presents Mass Observation

eventdetail

The Houston Chamber Choir presents the Southwest premiere of noted British composer Tarik O’Regan’s Mass Observation. The Choir will be joined by Musiqa in a unique collaboration.

This startling original work is scored for choir and six percussionists and is a poignant meditation on the histories of our varied, ambivalent relationships with surveillance in its many guises. The work takes its title from the British social research organization, Mass-Observation, which aimed to record everyday life in the United Kingdom.

Rounding out the program will be music by noted Houston composers: Karim Al-Zand, Marcus Karl Maroney, and Augusta Read Thomas.
